Introduction: we began to do this assignment in April 2014. The purpose of the writing assignment was to learn how to write an good essay.
Reflection: the hardest part of writing this assignment was the grammar. My grammar was not good, I used many wrong sentences. The part that I did good was the following reasons I gave to support my main point. If I had to do this assignment again, I would collect more information before I wrote the essay. I learned the right structure of an essay and how to write good reasons to support your point.

homework is necessary
The issue of whether homework is necessary or not has drawn widespread attention. Regarding this, people’s opinions are divided. People want to know whatever homework is useful or not. Some people assume that homework isn’t necessary. Doing homework is wasting time, however, with a deeper consideration, I think that homework is necessary. There are three reasons here.
First, homework can help teachers find the best way to teach students. A teacher of my friend said he gave his students homework every day. According to the accuracy of the student’s homework, he changes his teaching way. For example, one day he found that most of his students couldn’t finish their homework well. He thought the reason might be: first, the knowledge he taught was too difficult; Second, his teaching way was too boring to make his students paid attention to. For solving it out, he made a questionnaire about this. The data showed that his students didn’t like his teaching way. Next class, he changed a teaching way. After class he gave his students homework. Few day later, he found that the accuracy of student’s homework was very high. This teacher finally knew what way was the best teaching way for his students.
Second, homework can make students have good grades. According to a major study which has tracked the progress of 300 children over the past 15 years: Spending more than 2 hours to do homework can make students have better grade. Robert Tai, an associate professor with the Curry School of Education at UVa, said "When it comes to math, what we found is that there is a bit of a sweet spot. Students that were spending about a half an hour on math homework were reporting that their grades and test scores were actually better." One way for students to improve their subject’s grade such as math grade is more practices. Only more practices can make students understand the subjects totally. When I was in primary school, I didn’t do my math homework because I thought I have already understood the formula. The fact was that I couldn’t get good grade on my math test. Later, my teacher told me that homework could help me to use math formula expertly. I began to do my homework after that. My progress was obviously. Few months later, my math grade improved.
Third, homework can make students learn necessary skill. Ashley Norris, assistant dean of the university's college of education, said “for younger students, having more meaningful homework assignments can help build time-management skills.” Students need to organize and manage their time reasonably or they will not finish their homework on time. Homework also can help students learn self-control. Students have to hand in homework on time, so they have to do homework after school instead of playing the computer games or hanging out with friends. With time pass, students can control themselves to do the things they have to do instead of the thing they want to do. For example, my cousin always finishes his homework. He has strong self-control. He plays computer game only on weekends. My another cousin always doesn’t finish his homework. He can’t control himself to play computer games. He plays them every day.
All in all, giving all the reasons described above, homework is necessary because homework can help teachers find the best way to teach students, homework can make students have good grades and homework can make students learn necessary skill.
